UK NARIC to lead new ERASMUS+ projects on global recognition and professional training

UK NARIC has won bids to manage two new projects under the ERASMUS+ programme.

The projects are: Global Outreach – European Recognition Practices (GO-ERP), which aims to develop the European dimension in recognition through joint activities involving network-to-network sharing of good practice; and the Allocating Credit to EU Professional Training Programmes (ACEPT) project, which intends to develop a coherent approach to the articulation and recognition of professional training programmes.

The GO-ERP project consortium – UK NARIC with the Dutch NARIC (NUFFIC) and the Czech NARIC (Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports) will engage with Asian and African networks to share good practice and the practical application of European recognition tools in a non-European context.

GO-ERP will provide an opportunity for NARIC centres to reflect on their own practices, as well as opportunities to improve understanding of third-country qualifications in the target regions.

UK NARIC will also be managing the ACEPT project. Working together with the project consortium of NUFFIC; the Maltese NARIC (Malta Qualifications Recognition Information Centre); the Latvian NARIC (Academic Information Centre); and the Croatian NARIC (Agency for Science and Higher Education), the activities of this project include the development of an agreed definition of professional training programmes suitable for credit allocation, and developing a methodology for evaluating and allocating credit specific to professional training programmes.

These projects form part of ERASMUS+ Key Action 3: Support for Policy Reform.

UK NARIC is also in the consortia participating in three further projects under the Key Action 3 initiative: Automatic Recognition in the Networks in 2020 (AR-NET); Evaluating E-Learning for Academic Recognition (e-VALUATE) – both coordinated by NUFFIC; and the Qualification Framework as Trustable Criteria for Recognition (QUATREC) project – coordinated by the AIC.

The project bids were won following a successful tendering process and the projects are funded by the European Commission.
