Education in Russia and Central Asia
Overview
The session provides an overview of education in Russia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan. For each country, it focuses on secondary education, vocational education, university entrance criteria and higher education, using examples of educational documents to illustrate features of the education system. This allows for discussion of any issues which may arise when evaluating qualifications from this region. The session also includes information about market intelligence and mobility trends among students.
Target Audience
This course is recommended for university and college staff involved with entry to undergraduate and postgraduate courses. The course will also be useful to people from professional bodies, nationality & immigration solicitors, recruiters, work permit and visa agencies and careers / guidance advisers.
Objectives
The key objectives of the training are to:
- Achieve an understanding of the structure of the education systems in these three countries including secondary, vocational and higher education and how these compare with the UK's education system
- Identify and discuss key problems which arise when assessing qualifications from this region
- Develop the ability to identify and classify qualifications within the extensive range of awards available within each sector of these education systems
- Understand current mobility trends
