Applying for a Statement of Comparability for Construction Skills with Primary Source Verification
by post

We understand that some of our customers have limited internet access.

If you are not able to use our online application service, you can send us your application via post or fax. Even if you cannot complete your application online, it is very useful if you can access emails.

If you can get online you can start your application by registering, which will give you a unique UK NARIC enquiry ID. You need to tell us this in any correspondence with us, by phone or post.

If you send us anything by post or fax, it is very important that you include a covering note with your name, address and telephone number, and if you have a UK NARIC enquiry ID you should include that. Your note should tell us you want a Statement of Comparability for Construction Skills, whether you want Skills Mapping, and – very importantly – which CSCS card you intend to apply for.

You should send copies of all your documents and certificates (not originals), and your covering letter, to our postal address.

What to send us

If you are posting us documents send us photocopies ONLY – DO NOT send your original documents.

What we need depends on which Statement of Comparability for Construction Skills service you want: with or without skills mapping.

Without skills mapping (for an AQP card), send us:

  • your contact details and a note that you require a UK NARIC Statement of Comparability for Construction Skills to apply for a CSCS card
  • a photocopy or scan of your certificate(s) together with transcript(s) for any qualifications you want us to consider
  • a photocopy or scan of a certified translation to English of your certificates and transcripts or include in your note that you want to use the Translation Waiver Service; remember to include the fee of £30.00 + VAT* (£36.00)
  • a photocopy or scan of your passport showing your photograph
  • a signed Letter of Authorisation to allow our verification partners to access your training provider’s records
  • payment for the service – if you apply online you can pay securely; if you are sending us a cheque, please make it payable to ECCTIS Ltd
  • please remember to add postage, which is calculated separately: see Delivery Options for details.

If you want a Skills Mapped statement, it is easiest to register online and use the menu to choose the CSCS card you want to apply for. You can then download a Stage 1 form to tell us about the training you have done that is relevant to this CSCS card. This form is available as a pdf that can be emailed or printed.

If you cannot register online, you will need to contact us to ask for the Stage 1 form. You can telephone our UK office in office hours (9:00 – 17:00 UK time), or you can fax us. The numbers are above. You will need to tell us which CSCS card you want to apply for. We can post or fax the form to you.

The Stage 1 form needs to be filled in and signed by the organisation or institution that provided your training. When you have this, send us:

  • your contact details and a note that you require a UK NARIC Statement of Comparability for Construction Skills to apply for a CSCS card and which CSCS card you need
  • the Stage 1 form signed by the institution where you did your training
  • a photocopy or scan of your certificate(s) together with transcript(s) for any qualifications you want us to consider
  • a photocopy or scan of a certified translation to English of your certificates and transcripts
  • payment of £50.00 + VAT* (£60.00) for this Stage 1 assessment.

UK NARIC will then check your qualifications and tell you if your application can proceed to Stage 2 for detailed skills mapping. This should take 30 working days or less; if there are any problems that might cause delay we will let you know immediately.

Stage 2 – We will send you a message to let you know if your qualifications are appropriate to apply for the CSCS card you want. If they are, we will send you a detailed skills mapping form to be filled in by the organisation or institution that provided your training. We will also need your permission to conduct Primary Source Verification (PSV), which is required by CSCS for all applications to prove qualifications are genuine.

To apply for Stage 2 of the Statement of Comparability for Construction Skills with Skills Mapping and Primary Source Verification you will need to send us:

  • the mapping form completed by the institution that trained you
  • a photocopy or scan of your passport showing your photograph
  • a signed Letter of Authorisation to allow our verification partners to access your training provider’s records (this is a pdf you can download and print)
  • payment for the service, which costs £345.00 + VAT* (£414.00). If you apply online you can pay securely; if you are sending us a cheque, please make it payable to ECCTIS Ltd
  • please remember to add postage, which is calculated separately: see Delivery Options for details.

You will be sent an email confirming your order and giving you a unique enquiry ID number. You need to tell us this number if you phone or write to us. It is included automatically in any messages you send us through the user portal.

You will then be kept up to date on the progress of your application by email, or by post if you prefer.
