Evaluating International Qualifications

This session has been designed to give those dealing with international qualifications a better understanding of how they compare to UK qualifications, and national and regional frameworks internationally. The emphasis will vary depending on the delivery location and the needs of the audience.

Overview

The session will help delegates read and understand education documents and therefore be able to evaluate them. The documents considered will be from vocational, secondary and HE levels and the case studies used will include documents in the original language as well as translations into English. Evaluation methodologies will be discussed. Different education systems will be explored. Qualification frameworks and their development and significance will be considered, and also the evaluation of qualifications that are not aligned to frameworks.

Target Audience

This course is recommended for university and college staff involved with entry to undergraduate and postgraduate courses, and professional credential evaluators, in the UK or internationally. The course will also be useful to people from professional bodies, nationality and immigration solicitors, recruiters, work permit and visa agencies, and careers/guidance/refugee advisers. The balance and emphasis of the content can be adjusted, if the training group has particular requirements.
