An introduction to international student admissions

This Training Day provides a concentrated and thorough introduction to the education systems and qualifications of key markets and will provide an essential grounding in commonly encountered qualifications.

In addition, delegates will understand how to develop a systematic approach to the evaluation of overseas qualifications, identifying the most able students and making an offer.

English language proficiency is a key issue in international admissions and the day includes an introduction to the different tests, proficiency levels for admissions and how to use test scores in selecting students from overseas.

Supporting international applicants through their application is part of the duty of care that universities and colleges provide to international students. We will examine the common issues when engaging with international applicants and explore ways of overcoming some of the key difficulties.

Delegates will also receive best practice tips in how to meet the Home Office’s Student route compliance requirements.

We have developed a more advanced training day, Building your expertise in international student admissions, to offer progression from this training. Together, the two days provide excellent training and staff development for admissions teams.

Note: There will be some practical exercises on the day. We will provide a limited number of devices which will be shared among the delegates. If it’s not a problem for you to bring your own device, that would be helpful (tablet, laptop, etc.).
