UK NARIC CEO in Austria for latest Asia-Europe ASEM Education Senior Officials' Meeting

UK NARIC CEO Dr Cloud Bai-Yun is taking part in the Asia-Europe ASEM Education Senior Officials' Meeting at the Danube University, Krems, Austria, 15-17 October.

The Danube University is a centre for lifelong learning, and this will be a focus for the discussions, with consideration of the implications of lifelong learning and new forms of learning for recognition and transition between education levels and education systems.

Models for collaboration between academia and non-academia institutions will be explored, looking at ways in which the private sector and employers can be involved successfully in education, to promote employability.

Delegates from across Asia and Europe are participating in the three days of discussions and workshops.

The ongoing Asia-Europe dialogue, and particularly the Asia-Europe dialogue in education, is strategically important for the UK and supports UK-Asia relations and education links.

UK NARIC continues to do important work in UK-Asia educational collaboration and provides essential support to the development of international recognition practice and qualification frameworks in the Asia-Pacific regions.

Cloud is one of the founding members of the ASEM Bridging Declaration committee, established under the Asia-Europe education framework to develop international recognition practice.

An output of this work is the CBQAN, the Cross-Border Quality Assurance Network in Higher Education, which is devising frameworks to help develop quality assurance and communication in cross-border education and transnational education (TNE).

This will further support UK TNE efforts in Asia-Pacific, and all cross-border education collaboration in the regions.
