UK NARIC CEO in Strasbourg for first meeting of new European working group tackling Education Fraud

UK NARIC CEO, Dr Cloud Bai-Yun, is in Strasbourg, 9 February 2016, for the first meeting of the working group on Education Fraud.

The working group is part of the Council of Europe platform on Ethics, Transparency and Integrity in Education (ETINED). This and two other working groups, each covering a major theme of action, were set up at the first ETINED plenary meeting in November 2016. Dr Bai-Yun addressed that plenary, covering the work done by UK NARIC on education fraud and discussing aspects of the UK experience in addressing the issue, and is a member of the new working group.

Problems such as essay mills, false certificates and fraudulent institutions are growing. The working group will develop actions and policy recommendations to tackle these. Work will continue through 2017 and all working groups will report on progress at the next ETINED plenary.

Greater exchange of information on recognised qualifications is an expected outcome, and UK NARIC will be a key contributor in this area.

UK NARIC is making a significant contribution to counter-fraud efforts globally, and to safeguarding the integrity of international education.
