Important deadlines and changes to CSCS card application processes

If you are applying for an Academically Qualified Person CSCS card (an AQP card), then the information below does NOT affect you. The UK NARIC Statement of Comparability for Construction Skills that we issue for AQP card applications will not change. The Statements that we issue for AQP card purposes will continue to be accepted by CSCS as part of your card application after 31 December 2017.

If you are applying for a Skilled Worker / Advanced Craft / Supervisory / Manager CSCS card, then there are changes coming, and there are important deadlines to note.

From 1 December 2017, UK NARIC is further developing the Statement of Comparability for Construction Skills service, in line with construction industry requirements. From 1 December onwards, these UK NARIC Statements (except those issued for AQP card purposes) will include mapping of your skills. This mapping compares the competencies from your overseas qualification to UK skills standards. The price of these new-style Statements with mapping will be higher than the current Statements.

From 24 November 2017 onwards, we recommend (except for applications for Academically Qualified Person cards) that you apply for the new-style Statement of Comparability for Construction Skills with Skills Mapping, which launches on 1 December.

The current Statements of Comparability for Construction Skills – without the skills mapping – will be accepted by CSCS for CSCS card applications until 31 December 2017. They will NOT be accepted AFTER 31 December 2017.

If you wish to apply for a Skilled Worker / Advanced Craft / Supervisory / Manager CSCS card using the current Statement of Comparability for Construction Skills (without skills mapping) then you must send your application will all the relevant documents and certificates to UK NARIC by 24 November 2017.

We cannot guarantee that applications submitted after 24 November will be completed before 31 December. (The service has a turnround time of 30 working days.)

You must ensure you send us all the documents required, and payment. If there are things missing from your application, then this may mean delays, and may mean the 31 December deadline may be missed.
